The next Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna, the annual meeting of the Euskampus Bordeaux Cross-Border Campus community, will be held on November 13 and 14, 2023 at the Bilbao School of Engineering of the UPV/EHU.
Once again, we will have the opportunity to share, raise awareness and highlight the projects and collaborations developed within the framework of this strategic alliance between the UPV/EHU, the University of Bordeaux, the DIPC and Tecnalia, which is extended to the entire Euskampus Board of Trustees and its collaborating entities.
In line with the previous edition in Bordeaux, the emphasis will be on promoting the interaction and active participation of all participants in a programme that will alternate plenary sessions with co-creation workshops interspersed with informal meetings to make this meeting a space for shared reflection, fostering multicultural, multilingual and cross-disciplinary social cohesion, basic ingredients for collaboration in our cross-border and international context.
The multilingual event, one of its hallmarks, will provide an opportunity for the more than 200 people who are expected to attend the event to interact with the aim of getting to know each other better, continuing to build collaborative networks in strong personal-professional relationships and continuing to expand the community, especially by including more students in its ranks. This year will also see the active participation of more than 30 students (bachelor's, master's, and PhD degree students).
The participative workshop “Collective responses to transitions in our territories: sharing projects and initiatives.” (13/11 in the afternoon) will be a space in which, from the cultural, linguistic, institutional and disciplinary diversity of the Euskampus Bordeaux community, researchers, students, administrative staff, representatives of the Regional Council of New Aquitaine, the Basque Government, the New Aquitaine-Basque Country-Navarre Euroregion, the municipalities of Bilbao and Bordeaux, the Communauté d'Agglomération Pays Basque and other socio-economic agents, some of whom are already active members of the community and others wishing to join it with their contributions, will work collectively towards creating a shared vision of the challenges posed by these 3 transitions within the framework of the Atlantic Axis, highlighting the Basque-Aquitaine coastline.
The activity “On board the Euskampus Bordeaux Campus” (14/11 in the morning) will give 15 people selected to make a presentation in 173 seconds (the distance between Bilbao and Bordeaux in nautical miles) on the project or initiative they are undertaking or have undertaken within the framework of the collaborations between Euskampus entities, focusing on their experiences.
After focusing on the achievements of the 6 active Laboratories for Trans-Border Cooperation (LTCs) in the past year, the new LTC selected will be publicly announced at this year’s event, and the focus will switch to the recently created LTC Sarea, a programme funded by the Basque government to develop LTCs (13/11 in the morning).
In response to the demand from participants in previous editions, Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna 2023 will also have times and spaces for impromptu or more formal meetings on the mornings of November 13 and 14, which will be organised by those interested in interacting and continuing to build collaboration networks.
Finally, it should be noted that this edition will also provide an opportunity to enjoy two social and recreational activities:
- A multilingual guided tour of the Euskalduna Conference Centre, to find out what goes on backstage at the Conference Centre, its ins and outs and learn about the process of staging an opera. This will be followed by a rehearsal behind closed doors, of the first act of the opera L'elisir d'amore, by G. Donizetti, an opera that the ABAO will be putting on in November as part of the 2023-2024 season.
- A visit to the neighbourhood of Zorrozaurre which is being revitalised, to see the resurgence of a city that is constantly changing in a vibrant manner.
