Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna 2022, the sea as main character in this cross-border encounter
Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna 2022: the whole community took part in a workshop on strategic reflection with a view to renewing the Euskampus Bordeaux Campus framework agreement in 2023.
On November 21 and 22, 2022, Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna was held in Bordeaux (Bastide Campus), the annual meeting of the Euskampus Bordeaux cross-border campus community, at which plenary sessions and project presentations alternated and there was a participatory workshop for strategic reflection.
Taking advantage of the leitmotiv of the distance between Bilbao and Bordeaux, i.e. 173 nautical miles, the event was related to the sea, with this edition coinciding with the anniversary of the circumnavigation of the world by the Basque navigator Juan Sebastián Elkano, 500 years ago.
The collaborations that began in 2011 as part of the projects of excellence of the University of Bordeaux (IdEx-Bordeaux) and the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (CEI) led to a first framework agreement signed in 2014 that set up this strategic alliance between the UPV/EHU, the University of Bordeaux, the DIPC and Tecnalia, which was then renewed in 2018.
The Euskampus Bordeaux Eguna 2022 event was the ideal opportunity to invite the entire community to contribute their experiences and contributions to the strategic reflection exercise that will lead to the drafting of the new framework agreement.
As usual with Euskampus activities and projects, the voyage was undertaken by mobilising the diversity of multicultural, multidisciplinary and multilingual resources that make up the richness of this community. A community enjoys, values and knows how to grow and co-create from its diversity.
The cultural, linguistic, institutional and disciplinary diversity of the Euskampus Bordeaux community made the participatory workshop a space in which researchers, students, administrative staff and other socio-economic agents, some already active members of the community and others wishing to join it, shared their contributions and worked collectively to contribute to creating a shared vision of the Cross-border Campus towards the 2030 horizon. This collective vision will guide the design of the Euskampus Bordeaux alliance’s future framework agreement, which will be renewed in March 2023.
